Welcome to Personal Vault. Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using our mobile application (the "Service" or "App").
By installing or using Personal Vault, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the App.
1. Description of Service
Personal Vault provides a secure, privacy-focused local storage solution that allows users to encrypt, scan, organize, and manage sensitive documents, family medical records, vault files, photo memories, and personal notes & tasks directly on their mobile device. The App also offers optional encrypted cloud backup functionality utilizing third-party integration via the Google Drive API.
2. Privacy and Data Ownership
Your privacy is our core priority. As detailed in our Privacy Policy:
Data Custody: All data added to Personal Vault—including documents, medical history, notes, tasks, and media—is stored locally on your physical device. We do not maintain central servers, and we do not have access to, read, or collect your personal files or master PINs.
Encryption & Security: You are solely responsible for enabling security features (such as a 4-digit PIN or Biometric locks) to protect access to the data stored on your physical device.
3. User Responsibilities & Risk Acknowledgment
Because Personal Vault is a local-first application, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
PIN Recovery: We do not store or have access to your master PIN or biometric data. If you forget your PIN, lose your device, or delete the App without an active backup, we cannot recover your data.
Backup Maintenance: While the App provides an optional Google Drive integration to assist with encrypted cloud backups, you are entirely responsible for executing backups and maintaining the security and accessibility of your personal Google account.
Lawful Use: You agree not to use the App to store or manage any material that violates applicable local, national, or international laws.
4. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services, specifically Google Play Services (for authentication and billing) and the Google Drive API (for encrypted backup and restore sync).
Your use of cloud backups is subject to Google's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
We are not responsible for any service interruptions, data corruption, or security breaches occurring within Google’s infrastructure.
5. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in and to the App (excluding user-generated content and personal documents), including the software code, user interface, design, and branding, are the exclusive property of Personal Vault and its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
6. Termination and Deletion
You can terminate this agreement at any time by deleting the App from your device. To completely erase your data, you must use the "Delete Safe" feature within the App settings and clear your private backup folder inside your Google Drive account. Because we do not store your data on an external server, uninstalling the App and clearing your personal cloud folder eliminates all traces of your data.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE COMPLETELY ERROR-FREE, SECURE FROM ALL IMAGINABLE CYBER THREATS, OR UNINTERRUPTED.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PERSONAL VAULT, ITS DEVELOPERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE) THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
9. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide notice within the App update notes. By continuing to access or use the App after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
