At Personal Vault, we prioritize the security and privacy of your sensitive data. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information Collection and Use
Personal Vault is designed as a secure, privacy-first local storage solution. We collect minimal information necessary to provide the app’s services:
Local Data: All documents, medical records, files, photo memories, notes, and tasks are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your personal files or stored data.
Family Member Profiles & Medical Records: Medical records are organized locally under user-created family member avatars. This data remains strictly on your device unless backed up to your personal cloud.
Google Account Information: If you choose to use the optional Google Drive Backup feature, the app accesses your Google account details (email address and basic profile info) solely to identify your vault backup location and execute sync operations.
Media, Files & Camera: The app requests access to your camera and device storage only when you choose to scan physical documents, attach media/memories, or upload files and photos to your vault.
2. Google Drive Integration & Limited Use Disclosure
The app uses the Google Drive API exclusively to provide cloud backup functionality:
Backup: Encrypted database and file packages are uploaded to a private folder in your own Google Drive account.
Privacy: We do not store or transmit your Google Drive credentials to any external servers. Authentication is handled entirely and securely through Google Play Services.
Google API Limited Use Policy Compliance: Personal Vault's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We strictly process Google User Data only to provide and improve user-facing features (such as cloud backup and restore) that are prominent in the user interface.
3. Data Handling & Restrictions
Prohibited Data Transfer: Raw or aggregated Google user data received through the Google Drive API is never transferred, shared, or sold to third parties, data brokers, or targeted advertising platforms under any circumstances.
Prohibited AI/ML Training: Raw, derived, or aggregated Google User Data accessed by this application is strictly never used to develop, improve, or train artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) models.
4. Data Security
Local Security & Encryption: We recommend using the built-in 4-Digit PIN or Biometric (Fingerprint / Face Unlock) protection to secure access to the app on your physical device.
Encryption in Transit: All data backed up to Google Drive is transmitted over secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS).
No Third-Party Analytics: We do not use third-party tracking, profiling, or analytics SDKs that monitor your behavior or collect usage patterns.
5. Third-Party Services
The app utilizes the following third-party services, which may process information used to identify your device for core functionality:
Google Play Services (Authentication and Subscription/Billing)
Google Drive API (Private Backup and Cloud Sync)
6. Data Retention and Deletion
User Control: You have complete ownership and control over your data. You can delete individual documents, medical records, files, notes, or memories at any time. You can also use the "Delete Safe" option in Settings to wipe all local data and cloud backups.
Account Deletion / Right to be Forgotten: Because Personal Vault does not maintain a central server or user account database, simply uninstalling the application and deleting your Google Drive backup folder completely removes all traces of your data.
7. Children’s Privacy
This app is not intended for unsupervised use by children under the age of 13. While parents and guardians can store medical records for children under family avatars, we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective immediately upon posting on this page.
